The Role:

Our service is growing, and we are looking for I.T. Infrastructure Engineer and Support Technician. This post will have a minimum of 2 years hands on experience configuring and managing Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls in a large enterprise. This individual will be part of a small team supporting a soon to be complex enterprise network. This position is responsible for the support, implementation and maintenance of SLi network and services. These span multiple data centres and some Interpreting Centre offices, leveraging the latest technologies to maintain our 99.99% available service. 

We need an energetic, detail oriented, and personable self-starter who can work projects with minimal supervision. Experience with Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus, AWS, Azure, Oracle SBC, Cisco Telephony products, SIP protocol, and VMware would be useful.

Experience required:

Required/Essential

  • 2 years + real-world experience managing Cisco Routers, Switches, and Firewalls in an Enterprise Class environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills relating to the support of customers via telephone, email and/or other online avenues 
  • Strong history of success in similar positions
  • Flexibility & the adoption of a proactive approach at all times 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to creatively resolve issues by drilling down to root cause 
  • Exemplary prioritisation and escalation skills 
  • Strong attention to detail


Desirable

  • Cisco certification
  • Salesforce experience and other CRM familiarity
  • BSL fluency

Person specification:

Infrastructure Engineer responsibilities (main):

  • Architect, install, maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair enterprise-class network equipment, circuits, systems and applications. This includes on-premise servers, VPN, storage & network infrastructure as well as Cisco, Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services 
  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)  
  • Experience of virtualised server environments, ideally VMware
  • The eagerness to lead and support projects such as moving on premise servers to Azure platform  
  • Support over 200 desktop users 
  • Experience in working with data centres  
  • Knowledge of VoIP (SIP) and CyberSecurity knowledge would be desirable
  • Maximise network performance and integrity by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades, network optimisation
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
  • Carry out any other reasonable IT functions as directed by the Head of IT


Desktop Support for staff and clients (rota duty):

  • Provide first-line technical support; answering support queries via online chat, phone, email, social media and update the CRM records 
  • Prioritise and address customer IT feedback in order to meet internal or external deadlines 
  • Meet deadlines promptly and inform the Head of IT if the deadlines cannot be reached
  • Support users that are either on-site or remote 
  • Maintain accurate CRM database records for support queries & adhere to IT support delivery principles 
  • Take ownership of service user (customer) problems and be proactive when dealing with service user issues 
  • Log all calls on the call logging system (CRM)  
  • Respond to customer enquiries and support in resolving hardware or software related problems  
  • Support users in the use of supplied and/or third-party equipment by providing necessary training and advice  
  • Escalate more complex calls to the Head of IT and/or our external contractors, following up at all stages to ensure a full solution has been delivered and all details logged within our systems 
  • Liaise with customers, IT support, personnel to ensure external technical support is provided when this cannot be resolved in-house
