The Role:
We are seeking to recruit qualified BSL/English Interpreters to join the 999 BSL team on a part-time basis. The post-holder will undertake video interpreting duties, giving Deaf people access to the Emergency Services in their first language. We welcome applications from committed and motivated interpreters with experience of interpreting in a variety of domains and with a wide range of Deaf people. Given the possible nature of the calls a high degree of resilience is a necessity.
If 999 BSL is not for you, we have opportunities for interpreters on our other services too.
We have salaried and independent contractor positions available.

You are expected to have sound knowledge of issues relating to the Deaf community and a clear understanding of the role of a BSL/English Interpreter. You must also have a willingness to continue professional development and an excellent command of English.
Experience required:
Essential:
- Registered with the NRCPD as a Registered Sign Language Interpreter
- Three years post qualification experience in a range of domains
- Enhanced DBS check
Desirable:
- Experience in video interpreting, though training will be provided
- Technology comfortable
- Flexibility in your approach to work
- Other Sign Language skills an advantage
